Adgitize your web site.I was really happy to log into my adgitize account today to see that there was some money there waiting for me. I have been an Adgitize affiliate for almost a month now and so far I’m really happy with the results. Along with being an affiliate, I also use their service for advertising and have been psyched by all the page views I have accumulated this month. It’s always nice to find a new way to promote my site and make a little extra money while I’m at it.

I can tell you, my wonderful readers, that this money in my account excited me for many reasons.

  1. My washing machine broke this month.
  2. Last night my 17 year old son wrecked my car.  Badly.  He and his friend are ok, thanks to the airbags and seatbelts, but now we are both without a ride.
  3. My day job is dependent upon the economy and business has been extremely slow.  Rent is going to be hard to make this month.
  4. And Christmas is coming.

But, dear readers, I am not discouraged.  I have been through tougher times than this and I am slowly and steadily teaching myself to make money online.  My passive income is increasing and I am learning more each and every day.

Thanks to the folks at Adgitize, for giving me a smile this morning.

“Why do you blog?” That question has been asked time and time again, with varying answers given by varying individuals.  Most blog simply because they like it or they can make a little extra money.

However, as I am becoming more and more of a blogger and getting more involved in the blogging community, I have been struggling with a couple of issues.

How do I keep up with it all? I can be an extremely organized person, but I have found that it squelches creativity.  I now have several blogs that I am trying to keep up to date.  These all reflect different aspects of my personality.

Those who know me realize that my punk side and my hippie side are constantly at war. These sides have made friends but sometimes have vastly different opinions of how things should work. I have this blog and then two that focus on just how much of a geek I am.  Then there is one about sex and relationships, one about my hedonistic side, one about dream interpretation and one slightly hippie blog that I am just getting off the ground that is about personal development and zen like attitudes.

So, my questions are these: (1) Should I try to add something to these every day, even when I am totally uninspired? (2) Since I go through bouts of creativity, should I write when I can and then save drafts of the posts and scatter them out over time? (3) Should I only add to each blog whenever I truly feel as if I have something to say?

How do YOU blog?  Do you post daily? If you are blogging for money, which approach have you found to be most effective?

Join me in celebrating Buy Nothing Day this year.

Every year, people rush out on Black Friday to spend, spend, get angry, spend, rush, get angrier, spend and spend some more.  This year, take the day off.  Choose to buy nothing, make something, cook for someone, read a book, take a walk or ride a bike.

From Adbusters.org:

As the planet starts heating up, maybe it’s time to finally go cold turkey. Take the personal challenge by locking up your debit card, your credit cards, your money clip, and see what it feels like to opt out of consumer culture completely, even if only for 24 hours. Like the millions of people who have done this fast before you, you may be rewarded with a life-changing epiphany. While you’re at it, what better time to point out real alternatives to unbridled consumption – and the climate uncertainty that it entails – by taking your BND spirit to the streets?

Suddenly, we ran out of money and, to avoid collapse, we quickly pumped liquidity back into the system. But behind our financial crisis a much more ominous crisis looms: we are running out of nature… fish, forests, fresh water, minerals, soil. What are we going to do when supplies of these vital resources run low?

There’s only one way to avoid the collapse of this human experiment of ours on Planet Earth: we have to consume less.

It will take a massive mindshift. You can start the ball rolling by buying nothing on November 28th. Then celebrate Christmas differently this year, and make a New Year’s resolution to change your lifestyle in 2009.

Thinking you might like to participate? It’s easy. Buy nothing.

I’m venturing out with my passive income opportunities.  Tonight I signed up to submit content at Bukisa.  The process is really easy and the user interface is spectacular.

I’ve submitted two pieces so far and tomorrow I plan to submit more.  I love finding new passive income opportunities and I think that this will be a good one.

If you’re wondering where the name came from, Bukisa is the Zulu word for display.

Bukisa’s unique and revolutionary revenue sharing model is based on two main revenue streams and the innovative Bukisa index…

1. Getting paid for people reading, viewing or listening to your high quality published content.

2. Getting paid for the read, viewed & listened published content of your friends, friends’ friends and their friends (up to 3 levels).

This means that if you sign up by using my link, I’ll actually earn money for it!  Plus I will earn revenue every time my articles are read.  If you’re always looking for new ways to earn passive income, then I suggest you try it.  It’s free!

“The dream was always running ahead of me. To catch up, to live for a moment in unison with it, that was the miracle.” – Anais Nin

My son has suggested that I do some cross-promotion today.  Let me begin by telling you that I don’t do drugs.  Not recreational, not habitual, not at all.  So, what I’m about to say may be hard to believe.

I dream.  I dream a lot.  I dream dreams so crazy that you would think weed was coming through my vents at night.

I’ve always been fascinated by my dreams and by the vibrant and creative dreams of friends.  Especially my friend Mary who dreams of make believe animals and formal balls at Dr. Seuss’s house. My friends and I always call each other when we have particulary troubling or giggle-worthy dreams because we like to hear someone else’s interpretation.

In that vein, I have created Nocturnal Emissions, a blog to showcase and interpret interesting and wonderful dreams.  Anyone can submit them: asktheoracles@gmail.com.  And everyone can read and comment.

I have had so much fun with this project.  If any of you would like to submit a dream, I would love to read it and post it with a backlink to your site.  Just shoot me an email to the address above.  Thanks for visiting and keep on dreaming!

Today, I thought I would provide a little Ninja Love and Backlinking to those who provide me with sites that I love to visit every day during my “researching/reading about freelancing/fucking off” time.

I’m old fashioned. I only subscribe to a couple of RSS feeds (subscribe to mine if you like) but I have a huge list of bookmarked blogs and sites that I visit every day.  Today I will share with you the sites where I spend my time reading in the evening and drinking hot chocolate with Bailey’s.

Lately I’ve been burning the midnight oil (or LED night writer
in my case) writing articles like a fiend trying to get some extra Christmas cash.

Amidst my furious writing, I received a happy email from Associated Content saying that my profile had been added to their database of eligible content producers that can create custom content for their partner sites.

HUH? Oh yeah….

A couple of months ago, I noticed on the DS writers yahoo group that someone had posted that AC had a section in their calls for content that allowed you to submit an article for use on its partner sites.  I submitted and then forgot all about it.

I don’t really think too much about writing at AC, simply because I can usually get more residual income from sites such as eHow or Suite 101.  Howevcer, these calls for partner sites offer upfront payment of $15 to $25 and might be well worth taking. The email said that they will email me with offers and not to get discouraged if it’s a while before I get my first offer.  I am wondering if it will do any good to submit more articles to AC, so that my profile looks better or if it’s ok to just stick with what I’m doing.

Is anyone else a writer for an AC partner site?  I’d love to hear how it’s going.

It has already been established that I enjoy writing about sex.  Today I decided to write my 11th article for Suite 101.  I’ve enjoyed writing there and can see some potential for serious passive income.  My article today was based on one of my eHow articles and called “How to Get Your Wife to Have Sex with You.”

The article suggested things like helping out around the house, taking care of the kids, date nights, changing any medications that might cause a loss of libido, etc.  Nothing naughty. Except…

The subtitle was “How to Get Your Wife to Act Like a Porn Star”.  As soon as I hit the publish button I got a response from an editor saying this:

Your article entitled “How to Get Your Wift to Have Sex with You” has been temporarily taken offline pending your corrections and editorial approval.

I’ll need to review this carefully – it doesn’t seem quite appropriate. Offline in the meanwhile.

I’d like to say that I really hope they approve this one…I don’t mind changing the subtitle..I really don’t.  That’s the only thing in the article that can be deemed inappropriate in any way, shape or form.  However, editor lady, you must understand that porn is a part of life. As long as there are boobies, there will be porn.

I’ll let you guys know what happens with this one.  Meanwhile, enjoy the new layout…this one’s sticking around for a while.

I, in addition to Katy over at Trapped in the Office, have an addiction to Stumble Upon.  It’s what I do at night while I’m watching TV and avoiding work.  Tonight I stumbled across something that I just had to share with everyone.

The website is called Write or Die and it has a very interesting tool for you to use. It’s a productivity tool that lets you set your own goal (how many words you want to write) and then punishes you when you pause or stop writing alltogether.  Here are the consequences (from the website):

  • Gentle Mode: A certain amount of time after you stop writing, a box will pop up, gently reminding you to continue writing.
  • Normal Mode: If you persistently avoid writing, you will be played a most unpleasant sound. The sound will stop if and only if you continue to write.
  • Kamikaze Mode: Keep Writing or Your Work Will Unwrite Itself

I can’t wait to give this a try.  It appeals to my sense of masochism.
