I’ve been continuing my blogging and have recently begun to dip my toes into new waters. It has been fun, but it has also been an incredible learning experience. Not only have I learned how to add a forum to my website, but I have also learned how to use a web survey tool to do online surveys! This can be incredibly helpful to know what it is that your readers need from you. You can take surveys about what your readers what to know and then you can help them out by writing more relevant content for your website.

The best website survey tool that I have found is at PollDaddy. It is just so darn flexible and easy to use! If you are into blogging or if you have your own website for a business, then you should probably take a little time to learn how to use online surveys to your benefit.

In addition to adding online surveys, you will also need to be using an autoresponder so that you can communicate with your readers through an email list. This can make things incredibly easy and you can automate the process to send out emails any time you like. I’m learning more and more every day and I hope to be able to continue sharing these lessons with you.

What are you Reading?

I have been on a crazy journey lately of reading motivational/entrepreneurial books. What started off all this insanity is the book that you see to the left here. The Four Hour Work Week by Tim Ferriss.

If you have not read this book, then I suggest that you immediately stop reading this and log onto Amazon to buy it. I have finished it, but I am now reading it a second time through because I am so overwhelmed.

I have the book on my Kindle, but I am about to purchase a hard cover version so that my husband can read it, too. No way am I giving up the Kindle!

Anyway, if you are one of those people who has way more intelligence than they are being paid for and does not want to settle for a few years of retirement way down the road, then get this book.

I’ve also been listening to some great podcasts lately, such as the Smart Passive Income podcast and Internet Business Mastery. If you are interesting in making the most of your time and your business, then I recommend that you get this book right now and start listening to these podcasts. My motivation (and productivity) levels have gone through the roof!

Sticking with It

I am making a conscious effort to begin posting more to this blog. Actually, not only to this blog, but to all the blogs that I own. I came to the realization that one of my blogs which is really taking off with the page views and Adsense earnings is the one with the most posts and the one that gets updated more often. I decided to take this knowledge and try to make the rest of my blogs big earners, too.

I’m putting into practice all the wonderful things that I learned in The Niche Blogger course and adding in a few tricks of my own. I think that by posting on a more regular basis, I will be able to gain more recognition from the big G and be able to boost my ratings. I would love to be able to move further and further into my niche blogs and writing for myself and further away from day in day out article writing.

So, I’m sticking with it. I made a plan. I know which blogs that I am going to update on which days. I am keeping an close eye on my analytics tool. I have set an outrageous goal of making $5000 per month by the end of this year. WHEW! I know that if I can just keep on keeping on, I can reach my goal.

It’s Flipping Madness!

If you’ve been reading along, you’ll know that I had my first attempt at flipping a blog. First of all, let me say that Flippa made the process really simple.

Did it sell?

No.

But at least now I know how to do it. AND, when your blog doesn’t sell, Flippa immediately puts it up for private bids for a month. That means that now anyone can email me and make me an offer for the site. As of today, it is still up for sell, but who knows!

In other news…

I love getting mail from Google. Especially when it’s a check from Google Adsense. However, this week I got a $100.00 coupon to use for Google Adwords. I have never delved into PPC, but as with everything else, I thought I might as well jump in. Especially when I get to do it with someone else’s money!

I have set up 2 ad campaigns that will run for 5 days or so. I’ll let you know how it goes and what I learn.

Flipping a Website – My First Attempt

Since I’ve been blogging for a year now, I decided that it’s time that I learn a little about flipping a website. My mindset is this: if it sells, great – if not, it’s a learning process and I will learn what I can do better next time.

I have decided to use flippa.com to sell my site. It costs $19 to list your site and their step by step process is actually quite easy. I also had the advantage of a tutorial on blog flipping from The Niche Blogger. This was extremely helpful in me getting the blog ready to flip.

As far as what happens when the blog sells, we’ll see. The tutorial shows me how to transfer it myself, but if I can sell it at the BIN price, I want to outsource someone to move it for me.

Why do Women Blog? For the perks, of course!

Women blog for a lot of different reasons – to make money, to fill the time, to teach others, to have a creative outlet or even for the perks.

Wait. What’s this about perks?

Are you a lady blogger who likes freebies? Do I have news for you!

There was a great article over at Problogger a couple of days ago by a lady named Krizia. The article was about how hard it is now to get samples from companies whose products she wants to review on her beauty blog. Since the recession, apparently companies are wanting more and more blog reviews and are being much pickier about who they will send samples to.

Fortunatly, I don’t have this problem. Why? Because I belong to the One to One network.

The One to One Network is a network of women bloggers who get the word out on new music, books, etc, in exchange for a review copy of the product.

Do all the reviews have to be positive? No. They are looking for honest reviews from women who can say what they really think. The book that I read was good, but not great. And that’s how I wrote my review.

The Niche Blogger Review – 10 Months Later

I thought that you guys might be wondering how my niche blogging is going along, so I decided to write a Niche Blogger Review to show you how that’s been going for me this year. I bought Amy Bass’s The Niche Blogger in January of this year and began to learn about building my own niche blogs using wordpress.

When I started I knew nothing about SEO or how to get a website ranked, much less how to make money with it. Amy’s step by step method’s made the learning process a breeze so I upgraded to a lifetime membership 2 months into the program. (You can be a regular member for just $19.95 a month.)

I learned about becomming an affiliate and getting my niche blogs ranked so that I could get free search engine traffic. Amy taught me how to promote my website and even make money while I was doing promotion. I’ve loved every minute of it.

I still do freelance writing, but niche blogging is where my heart is. I haven’t completed all of the months yet, because Amy is still adding new material and I like to replicate what has been making me money so far. Soon, however, I am going to read the month on blog flipping and attempt to flip my first blog.

What about the numbers?

These are my niche blogging earnings since January of 2009. Keep in mind that I do this on a very part time basis, although I am planning to go full time in the new year.

Affiliate Sales (amazon, clickbank, ebay, etc.): $760.64

Google Adsense: $297.99

Total: $1058.63

What would you do with an extra $1000? I spent some of mine putting it back into my business – I have an aweber account that I pay monthly and I have spent a little money on domain names. I did not include my earnings from eHow or Suite101 since I am mainly using them to supplement my freelance writing money. I plan to scale this business way up and earn a full time income using the techniques that I learned at The Niche Blogger next year.

Switching to Infolinks Gets Results

Hello all. I have been busy writing my little fingers off here lately and there are several new things that I would like to share with you. As you may know, I have a whole network of blogs now and I’m always looking for new ways to monetize them. For a while, I ran Kontera on a couple of these sites. Kontera shows ads as text links inside your blog posts.

After never quite reaching a payout with them, I decided to give Infolinks a try. Felicia, at No Job for Mom, gave them a big thumbs up and after I read her blog post about them, I decided to make the switch.

Results? Well, I can tell you that in just the past month I have made more with Infolinks that I made the entire time that I was using Kontera. If you have a blog or two or ten, I highly suggest you give them a try.

In other news, you may notice that my advertising spots on the right over there have changed a little. If you click on one, it will take you to a nice little page that tells you that the spot is $15 per month and lets you upload your ad and pay for it on the spot. More to come on that later.

I just had the best steak ever and now I’m heading to bed. Night all!

IM Report Card and Ninja Style

Hi there people.

I’m a little stunned right now because my husband just spotted a huge snake right outside our front door on the porch. He nearly stepped on it when he was taking out the trash. Fortunately, it’s only a grass snake, but startling none the less.

I’ve been busy working away on my goal of saving $1500 by the end of the year and so far so good! I had a very nice surprise in my email last week, as well. A lady who publishes a small magazine for fashion retail owners in the state saw a couple of my articles online and wanted to buy them.

YAY ME!!!!

Aside from that, I discovered, via Ebele, a wonderful little review site that lets you earn a little cash while also reviewing all those crazy IM (internet marketing) products on the market. It’s called IM Report Card. It was really cool to go through and look at reviews for things I’ve been thinking about buying and leaving a a few reviews of my own.

Speaking of IM products, I have fully convinced myself that I must purchase Micro Niche Finder. I’ve have noticed that every successful IM person that I follow all use that one tool. So, since it’s not in my budget..and I’m not willing to sacrifice some of the money that I’m putting towards the $1500, I’ve decided to pick a nice little marketing campaign to do on a clickbank product to see if I can make a few sales and use the cash to buy MNF.

A New Free Traffic Source and an Update

I’m still working hard towards my $1500 goal and I’ve realized a couple of things.

1. I love researching and setting up niche blogs. I enjoy it much more than actual article writing and it has a longer and higher income potential.

2. I still enjoy article writing, but I hope to suppliment my full time income with more niche blogging than flat fee article writing.

The good thing is that I can work on my niche blogs in my spare time and still make money writing articles online. Plus, there is always that nice passive income from sites like eHow and Suite 101.

I came across something exciting online last night that will help both my article writing career and my niche blogging career. It’s a site called Red Gage. On this site, you can submit links to your articles, websites, videos and just about anything else that you have created and you can actually earn a little cash for it. So apart from getting free traffic and a little backlink love, you can also get a little money.

The site is still very new, so expect a few bugs and such, but so far I have found no major problems with it.

There are daily, weekly, and montly contests for the most views, most referrals (so please sign up through my link and help me win!), and most mentions of the site in posts that you make. This is a nice little bonus that you can win in addition to the money you can earn for page views. I plan to submit any piece of writing I do – blog posts, articles, etc. to Red Gage as soon as I write them and gain points, earn money and get traffic.
