The fine folks over at Infolinks are have created a new contest that I am very excited about. They are granting the dreams or wishes of a few of their lucky account holders. Since I have been using Infolinks, I have been very happy to see quite a few of these contests come along. In order to compete in the contest, I have to answer these two questions.

1. What about Infolinks makes you happy? Aside from the fact by using Infolinks, I have been able to increase my earnings month by month, I am also very happy that they doubled my earnings a couple of months ago!

2. What can Infolinks do to make you happy, really happy? Well, this one is quite easy. My beautiful, lovely laptop has died a slow and painful death. I am desperately in need of a replacement. My dream is to get a brand new Sony Vaio laptop to blog from. Specifically, the green one (of course) would be fantastic!

Fight Cancer by Donating your Car

Literally everyone I know has lost a loved one to some kind of cancer. My husband lost his mother a few years ago and several members of my Dad’s family have gone over the last few years.

One of the most worthy ways to spend your money is to donate to cancer research. Car donation is a great way to do this. With a ton of internet sites that are devoted to different charities, it’s easy to donate your car to charity. How to Make More Money Writing Articles Online

If you’ve come to this post, you probably already know how easy it is to make a little bit of cash by writing articles online for sites such as Suite101, Helium, Bukisa, Infobarrel, Squidoo, Hubpages and others. Most of these websites allow you to write and post articles and then pay you either a portion of the adsense clicks that your articles generate or pay you a certain amount per 1,000 page views of your articles.

Here’s what you have probably already learned: If your article does not get any traffic, then it will not make any money. So, the question becomes, how can I get more traffic to my articles so that I can make more money writing articles online?

The best way that I have found to go about this is to do a better job of selecting my keywords before I write my articles. If you are really new to writing articles online, I will go into a bit of detail for you here. If you already know a lot about what keywords are, you can skip this part.

What are keywords?

Keywords are words within your article that give the reader an idea of what the article is about. For instance, in this blog post, my main keyword would be “writing articles online”. By having this keyword in my title, Google knows what the article is going to be about and will list it whenever someone searches on Google for “writing articles online”. The keyword is in my title and also appears in my article.

Getting on the First Page of Google for your Keyword.

Now, if getting listed on the first page of Google was as easy as putting your main keyword in your title and article, you could make a ton of money from your articles with very little effort. However, there may be a ton of people who are using the same keyword that you are. This creates a lot of competition for that first page of Google. So if you could figure out which keywords have less competition, you could use those and it would be a lot easier to get to the front page of Google.

Something Else to Consider

When you are looking at a certain keyword, you will also need to know how many searches it gets per month. If you choose a great keyword with no competition, and get it to the front page of Google, it’s no good unless it gets a lot of searches per month. Would you rather have an article keyword that got 100 searches per month or one that got 3,000 searches per month?

Striking the Balance

So in order to pick the perfect keyword, you will want to find one that gets plenty of searches per month and that has very little competition so that you can get it to page one in the search engines. This is extremely difficult to do unless you have the right software.

I have the right software.

I use the Micro Niche Finder software to do all of this for me. All I have to do is to type in a one keyword and it does all the work. For instance, maybe I want to write an article about organic gardening. If I jump in without doing my research and use “organic gardening” as my keyword, I will end up being very disappointed. If I use the Google keyword tool, I can see that that term gets around 40, 000 searches per month, which is awesome! Now, if I didn’t research this anymore and wrote the article using that keyword I would find out very quickly how much competition there is. There is no way that I could hit the front page of Google with that keyword.

How Does Micro Niche Finder Work?

Instead, I will use Micro Niche Finder and do a search for “organic gardening”. What happens is that a page is displayed with around 100 keywords that all relate to organic gardening. I can now see exactly how many searches per month are done for each keyword. However, now I have several advantages. There is also a column which shows me the competition strength for each keyword. I can easily look through the keywords on the list and find which keyword gets the most searches with the lowest competition. The competition column even shows you a green light if the keyword is going to be easy to rank for. I usually try to go for the best green light keyword on the list (the one with the most searches that still has a green light).

Another advantage of this tool is that there is also a column which tell your how much people are paying per ad click for that keyword. So if you are writing for a site that gives you a portion of the adsense revenue, you will be able to pick out the keywords that will pay the most per click!

Now that you have seen how it works, you can understand just how much more money you could be making by writing articles at Squidoo, Hubpages, Infobarrel and Helium if you use the right keywords. I have used this software for about a year now and I cannot tell you how much of a difference it has made! I use Micro Niche Finder every time I write an article. I can’t work without it. I feel like if I had not bought this software, I would have been leaving a ton of money on the table at all the articles sites I write for.

Have you ever heard of Fiverr.com? It’s a really interesting site where you can waste away the hours looking at the different things that folks will offer to do for 5 bucks. Trust me. Hours.

One guy says that he will write your domain name on his arm and wear it around college for a day for $5. Another girl says that she will leave comments on your Facebook page to make people jealous for $5. (well worth it if you are in the market for such a thing, I’m sure)

I decided that instead of spending my time checking out other people’s gigs on Fiverr, I would create my own and see what kind of response I would get. When I was trying to figure out what valuable service I could provide for $5, I knew that it would have to be something that I could do relatively quickly.

I also knew that it would have to be something that I enjoyed and that I looked forward to. It would need to provide value for the customer, too.

I didn’t want to go the article writing route because I do too much of that already. So one gig that I decided on was to send you a copy of my ebook on How to Give a Massage. Since the ebook is already written and sitting on my hard drive..it would be easy. I posted the gig two days ago and haven’t had any response on this one at all. It has only been viewed 7 times. Not much of demand, I would say. Here’s a link if you want to see it.

For the other gig I posted, I decided to find a hole and fill it. Many of you know that my friend and I have just published a book on Amazon. We were busy trying to talk friends and family members into reviewing it for us. The more reviews you have, the more Amazon will push your book. So for my gig, I decided to offer to write a book review on Amazon.

I checked the terms of use on Amazon and found out that this is a no no. The only thing you are supposed to receive in return for a book review is a copy of the book, so I had to revise my idea.

I decided to create a book review blog and post the reviews there in addition to Amazon. This way, I am charging for posting the book review for my blog and you get the Amazon review for free. Here’s the gig. And if you’re interested, here’s the blog.

I know what you’re thinking. It can’t possibly be worth your time to read an entire book for only $5. Here’s the thing. I am a really fast reader. Really fast. So I can read these books – since they are self-published, most of the are on the shorter side, and leave a nice review. The listing has been up for 2 days and I have already done two of them. If I could do one a day for a month that would be an extra $100 at the end of the month. – And that’s only if I do it Monday through Friday.

Also, since I post the reviews on my own blog, I include Amazon affiliate links to the books along with adsense. So, potentially, I could make a little more money off these reviews.

UPDATE: As of today, July 12, Fiverr has done away with the earnings withdrawal level of $40. Now, once your funds have cleared, you may withdraw them anytime you like..even if it’s only a few bucks.

Are Your Suite 101 Earnings Declining? Here’s a Solution.

If you are writing for Suite 101, you have probably noticed a decline in your earnings over the last few months. Mine have unfortunately been cut in HALF since the beginning of the year. I’m not sure what exactly happened here, but I have a sneaking feeling that some of it has to do with the Google Mayday update.

According to some sources, this update has made articles on larger sites have to rely more on their own backlinks than on the backlinks of the entire large site. If this is true, it would make sense that my earnings at Suite 101 have decreased.

So now that we think we know the problem, how can we fix it? One word – Xomba. Xomba is a great website where you can earn money, post articles and best of all, get backlinks to your articles and websites. One of the best parts about Xomba is that you can post a short 50 work bookmark. It’s super easy to write up a short paragraph about one of my Suite articles and then make a backlink to it. It takes almost no time and guess what? My earnings have increased!

Not only that, but you can make money with your adsense account through Xomba, too. So you can use the site to post longer articles and earn money if you want. You can even link directly to affiliate offers.

This site ranks extremely well in search engines. I use the bookmark feature for each new site I create and the Xomba link is usually on the first page of Google for its keyword by the end of the day.

This project was a tremendous amount of fun and I would encourage anyone who is thinking about creating a book through Amazon’s CreateSpace program to go for it. It was not as technically challenging as I thought.

Sticking with It

I am making a conscious effort to begin posting more to this blog. Actually, not only to this blog, but to all the blogs that I own. I came to the realization that one of my blogs which is really taking off with the page views and Adsense earnings is the one with the most posts and the one that gets updated more often. I decided to take this knowledge and try to make the rest of my blogs big earners, too.

I’m putting into practice all the wonderful things that I learned in The Niche Blogger course and adding in a few tricks of my own. I think that by posting on a more regular basis, I will be able to gain more recognition from the big G and be able to boost my ratings. I would love to be able to move further and further into my niche blogs and writing for myself and further away from day in day out article writing.

So, I’m sticking with it. I made a plan. I know which blogs that I am going to update on which days. I am keeping an close eye on my analytics tool. I have set an outrageous goal of making $5000 per month by the end of this year. WHEW! I know that if I can just keep on keeping on, I can reach my goal.

Two Free Tools for Freelance Writing

I wanted to let you guys know today about a couple of free tools that I use each and every day for freelance writing. These two tools make my life so much easier!

They are both actually Firefox add on’s, so if you are not using Firefox, you won’t be able to take advantage of them. Also, if you are not using Firefox, then you should be. It’s the best! Plus, it’s free and no-hassle.

The first tool that I wanted to tell you about is the “Word Count” Firefox add on. This is especially helpful for those who write for Demand Studios and like to write directly into the input form. As you may have realized, DS likes to have a certain word count per article, but there is no word count tool on the input screen. Once you install the Word Count plug in, though, it’s much easier. A little “W” appears in the bottom right of your screen and all you have to do is highlight your text and hit the “W”. The word count will appear on your screen right next to the “W”. Neat, huh?

The next tool is the “Split Screen” Firefox add on. I use this one all the time when I am doing research for an article. Once it is installed, you simply click on “Split” in your top toolbar and then choose a tab to split to the right of the screen. This way, you can have your research on one side of your screen and the article that you are writing on the other side.

So how do you get all this cool free stuff? If you are using Firefox, click on “Tools” in your toolbar. Then click on “Add-Ons” and then on “Get Add-Ons”. You should now be able to search for the add on that you would like.
