I met my adsense goal this month, which was that I wanted my earnings from adsense to double.

This month was not as good with affiliate sales, but I know that I”m headed in the right direction so I’m going to keep going.

Adsense: $24.40

Affiliate Sales: $20.00

I’m also still earning from eHow, Bukisa, AC and today.com.  I met my Bukisa payout this month and I am adding to my network all the time.

I have a couple of new tools that I am using that I want to share with you this month, as well as a new place to write and earn money, so keep a look out for those. I’m constantly on the prowl for new passive income streams!

There have been a few changes at Today.com that I wanted to let you guys in on.  My payment rate was changed for my geek girl today blog, so I no longer get the $1.00 per post.  I think this happened because once I began Niche Blogging I neglected my today blogs.

I decided I would rather spend my time on my own blogs.  However, this week I decided to give today.com another chance.  I noticed that they now have an affiliate program available to their bloggers.  You can log in to your account and look through all of the various programs/stores that you can promote on your today.com blogs.

Since my blog is already set up to talk about geek gadgets, I was in the perfect position to try out the affiliate program.  I decided to have a look around to see if there was anything in my category that I could promote.

I was happy to discover that Hot Topic was one of the stores on the list and after giving a quick glance to the items available to promote, I decided that I would go with it.  So, I’ve picked back up blogging at my geek girl blog and I’m waiting to see if I make any affiliate sales.

I can tell you that the main reason I decided to do this was because my today.com blogs do really well in the search engines and get a good amount of traffic even though I have not promoted them at all.  I’m going to do a little promotion for the rest of this month and I’ll let you guys know how it goes.

As of now, I get money for page views and money for any affiliate products that I sell.  Money is paid via paypal once you earn $50.00 or more.  If any of you would like to try it out, just click on the Join Now button on this post. I like to share freelance writing opportunities with my readers, but was recently asked by a reader in the UK which of these sites she could write for.

I honestly had no idea.  I’ve never even considered that situation. Being from the US, I had never even thought to check out which sites were available to international writers.  Since her question, though, I have done a little research to provide you with a few sites that writers outside the US can use. (and maybe we US residents can learn a thing or two, as well)

1. Daily Article – Writers submit work and set their own prices per article.  The buyer gets full rights to the article.  You are notified whenever one of your articles is sold.
2. Associated Content – Most of us know about this one.  Associated content pays up front for original articles, but the up front prices are pretty low.  The good thing about AC is the opportunity for passive income.  You get monthly bonus checks for page views.
3. Triond - Triond won’t make you rich, but it’s a great place to hone your writing skills and make a little passive income each month.
4. Review Party - Write reviews of books, music or DVDs and get paid by earning money through Google Adsense and the Amazon Affiliate program.  You use your own adsense ID and Amazon Affiliate numbers.
5. Bukisa – I sent an email to the nice folks at Bukisa to find out if they allow international writers because I am really excited about the passive income potential for this site.  They sent a prompt reply saying that anyone can write, regardless of country, as long as they have a PayPal account.  Bukisa lets you post articles and earn money for page views.  You also earn money by having people sign up using your Bukisa link and joining your network.
6. Today.com – You can sign up to have two blogs through Today.com.  They pay $1 per post (one post per blog per day), plus you get money for page views.  For November I got a payout of $50 from Today.com.  Consider this: if you spend 15 minutes or so writing at Today.com each day, and let the money accrue in your PayPal account, you will have enough saved up for a cruise by the end of the year!  You get the choose the topic of your blog, so you get to write about whatever you like.

There are a few other sites that I researched that did not specifically state that they only took US writers.  If you want to give those a shot, here they are:

• Squidoo
• Gzyn
• Xomba
• Life Tips
• Epinions

Today.com – 50.00 (I have at least this much…I am still waiting for the final totals)

That’s a grand total of $166.04 for passive income from freelance writing. Not bad for only focusing on passive income for the last couple of months. I hope to double this in the next 3 months. I did not list any up front payments from Helium or Associated Content in those totals.

I also have not listed my Bright Hub earnings because I do not have a total from them yet, either. If any of you would like to sign up for Bukisa or Today.com, I would appreciate you doing it through my links, as I get bonuses for that!

Today I was super excited to get two writing related items in the mail.  The first package I got my free today.com t-shirt. It’s big and comfy and I am such a geek.

The other, even more super exciting package I got in the mail today was  an envolope from Blue Mountain Arts.  They sent my purchase option agreement for a poem I sent to them. I have to sign it and send it back and then it will go into the next step in the process.  Review time.

Reading the purchase option agreement made me happy.  I found out that for poetry purchased for greeting cards, they pay $300.  For the second poem you sell them, it’s $400 and so on until you reach $700 and for any more than that, you get the $700 for each one you sell.

Apart from sending in the agreement tomorrow, I will also be sending in more poetry for them to consider.  It doesn’t cost anything and it can’t hurt to try.

You’ve got to put yourself out there, right?

I’ve been blogging at today.com for a week or so now and I was wondering if it might somehow be a scam. If you’re looking for work at home jobs, look here first.

My account shows payment for page views but not for the paid amount of each post. Thankfully, today it was updated! So, for my first few posts I can actually see the payment in my account link.

If you’re looking for a place to begin blogging, this is a good one. You get exposure and you get paid per post. Writer jobs are hard to come by, so take advantage!

I have been using Google Adsense on this blog since it’s inception.  Lately I have been doing a lot of reading to try to figure out how to make more money through this avenue.  Unfortunately for all of you, I read today that readers click more ads on blogs that are ugly.

Super!

Hey, it’s worth a shot.

I have a couple of blogs on Today.com,  here and here.  I am not able to post ads on my today blogs because I am paid per post to do them.  However, Today does have ads of its own on my pages.  I have noticed that their ads are not pretty.  Also, I have noticed that the ads are above the text for the post.  I’m sure that they have done the market research, so I figure that I’ll try that method here and see if I can tell a difference.

Who knows?  It can’t hurt!

I am also working on improving my social networking for this site.  If any of you out there are using Twitter, Digg or Stumbleupon, leave me a comment and I’ll be glad to add you as a friend!

Yes.

Is it worth it?

I think so.  Especially for those who are just beginning a career in freelance writing.  It’s great practice and it’s always a good idea to discipline yourself to write every day.  (you only get paid for one post each day)

There are a few perks for blogging at Today.com.  They do promote your site.  The posts you write can be relatively short.  They have montly contests where you can win money.
